Little Gnarley Weasel, back in the day!

Our sweet little Gnarley! This photo was taken in our old apartment in West Jordan, UT in 2008. Gnarley was so thrilled to see Taz that day, he just loved searching through her purse. Her cell phone quickly became a new toy for him as you can see!

Gnarley became apart of our Family in June 2008. I saw an ad on ksl.com in the Free Section of the classifieds advertising him for free. He was found roaming through the backyard of a family's home in Santaquin, UT. The family kept him for about a month, trying to find his owner. When no one locally claimed him, they posted him online free to the first taker. I was lucky enough to be the first caller and quickly hopped in my Jeep Wrangler with my Brother-in-Law Jacob to go pick him up. We arrived at the house in Santaquin and knocked on the door. A young woman answered holding a very skinny and sickly looking ferret; she asked if I was the person who called on him and I said yes. She quickly explained that he had been living in her unfinished basement and was being fed cat food. She knew nothing about ferrets and did not want anything to do with him. When I held little Gnarley in my arms, I knew I had just met one of the most fantastic creatures God has ever created.

Within weeks, Gnarley became healthy again. He gained a little weight and his coat grew back in thick and bright. It came that we moved into a home in West Valley shortly after obtaining him. At that time, we had agreed to allow some friends of our move into our basement to help them out. It ended up that they disliked paying any type of utilities or rent. We were forced to sell off many of our belongings, including our beloved Gnarley, to stay financially afloat. Even though we sold him for very little, that money allowed us not to go hungry for the next month.

Not a day had passed by that I did not feel regret and sadness for parting with my little Gnarley. It often wondered and thought about him, hoping that he was ok. I am one of those people who believe everything happens for a reason and certainly what I am about to say I feel applies to that reason.

My Mother sold her house this past December 2009 and asked me to help her move out. She had to totally be out of the house by 12/29/09. I had since relocated to Glendale, Arizona so that Andrew, my Husband could attend College full time. I happily hopped in my truck and drove to Utah in a flash. During my short stay in Utah, I found myself browsing through the ads on ksl.com in my free time late at night. I clicked on the ferret section of the classifieds just for fun - and who do I see for sale? My Gnarley! I felt like the wind had been knocked out of me and I quickly began texting Christina, the lady I had sold him to. I quickly made arrangement to buy him back, and along with Gnarley came his friend "Captain" (Morgan). I drove back home to Arizona the very next day. Everything happens for a reason and I am thankful for all of the blessings in my life. One of them being Gnarley, the sweet little hobo Weasel from Santaquin who permanently warmed our hearts.
